Covergence Expands its Next-Generation Session Border Control Solutions Business into the European Market

European companies choose Covergence’s award-winning Eclipse solution to enable delivery of secure, reliable, “business grade” voice and real-time services

London, 27 June 2007 - Covergence®, a leading provider of next-generation session-border-control solutions, today launched into the European market with the announcement of Interoute and Mainstream Digital as pan-European service provider customers. Reinforcing its commitment to the European market, Covergence is working with its European customers to scale, secure and manage VoIP and other real-time services using its Eclipse™ Session Border Controller (SBC). Eclipse from Covergence is an award-winning SBC that combines traditional border control with comprehensive security and powerful management and control capabilities.

Organizations see the potential cost-saving and productivity enhancements offered by real-time collaborative services. But until they can extend collaborative services to users securely and reliably, the benefits remain elusive. Using Eclipse, service providers and enterprises can eliminate the barriers to secure, reliable, business-class VoIP and real-time services. Covergence’s Eclipse SBC gives organizations a single point of security, management and control for “business-grade” VoIP and multimedia applications such as instant messaging (IM), presence, audio, video conferencing, file transfers and application sharing.

“Europe is an innovative leader in this fast-growing market and European service providers and enterprises are adopting VoIP and other real-time services at a rapid pace,” said Bob O’Neil, CEO and president for Covergence. “Using Covergence’s Eclipse solution, organizations can remove the barriers to adoption instantly and deliver secure, reliable, business-grade services to enhance productivity and impact the bottom line.”

As part of today’s launch, Covergence also announced that two UK service providers have chosen Eclipse to secure, control and manage their networks:

  • Interoute, a leading European network and value-added services company, will use Eclipse to enable its new Microsoft Live Communications Server (LCS) Clearinghouse service for collaborative communications.
  • Mainstream Digital Ltd., a UK-based service provider working in conjunction with British Telecom, has selected the Eclipse to deliver a suite of fixed and mobile VoIP services directly to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Other publicly-announced customers include VoIP Solutions, Vonage, New Global Telecom (NGT) and Hipcom.

The Eclipse family spans the needs of the Small to Medium-sized Business (SMB) market and continues all the way up to the world’s largest service providers with recently-announced support for the industry standard AdvancedTCA chassis. All Eclipse models are available from Covergence today and can be purchased by contacting sales@covergence.com or by calling (+1)978.823.5200.
